What’s Happening in the Market – December Update
Apart from those in the southern part of South Australia and Victoria
We will all be glad to see the end of 2018. It’s been an extremely challenging year for many. Most areas began with a dry start, followed by early rain in some areas, another dry spell, patchy rain, wind, storms and to top it all off, frost events causing serious damage.
With grain prices at an all-time high, the areas which received sufficient rain have had an extremely good year. However, most of you have had more stress than you’d prefer in a season, so as a collective we are looking forward to the new year.
Price trends:
- The 2,4-D price has been rising steadily since August. However, the full impact is yet to be realised in Australia as the market is very slowly moving through old stock. Once the old stock is consumed, price increases of more than 10% will occur.
- The glyphosate and paraquat markets are slow with the price direction determined by local demand or the lack of it.
- Triclopyr will increase slightly in price this summer as the older stock sells and the newer higher priced stock is available
Thank all our customers for their incredible support in 2018 and we wish everyone a successful completion of their harvest. We hope you all have a wonderful and safe Christmas break and enjoy some time off in the New Year. We look forward to what is hopefully a wet and more prosperous 2019.
