Fenceline Spraying
Fenceline Spraying
Overuse of glyphosate in fencelines and around the edge of crops can lead to a build up of glyphosate resistant weeds. How do we combat this on farm? Through integrating different herbicide groups and through correct herbicide application.
Some notes on products for fenceline spraying below:
Alliance
Amitrole Paraquat (Gramoxone)
Controls bigger weeds than Sprayseed or Gramoxone alone. Short residual (2-3 weeks). DO NOT apply the herbicides using hand-held or knapsack application equipment.
Alliance & Simazine
Amitrole Paraquat (Gramoxone) + Simazine
Will provide longer residual control (2-3 months). Preferred low-cost mix. DO NOT apply the herbicides using hand-held or knapsack application equipment.
Alliance & URAGAN
Amitrole Paraquat (Gramoxone) + Bromacil
Will provide the longest residual control (12 months). Do not use in channels or near trees. DO NOT apply the herbicides using hand-held or knapsack application equipment.
Gramoxone 360 Pro & Simazine
Paraquat (Gramoxone) + Simazine
Will provide longer residual control (2-3 months). The knockdown strength is not as strong as the Alliance mix. DO NOT apply the herbicides using hand-held or knapsack application equipment.
Gramoxone 360 Pro & URAGAN
Paraquat (Gramoxone) + Bromacil
May not be quite as robust as the Alliance mix. Will provide the longest residual control (12 months). Do not use in channels or near trees.DO NOT apply the herbicides using hand-held or knapsack application equipment.
Terrain
Flumioxazin
Will provide season long control. Safer to trees than some other herbicides. Terrain requires rain to incorporate. Terrain up to 24 weeks residual control.
Alliance & Terrain
